I’ve heard of this phenomenon, but never experienced it ……..Until today. I was just entering the pedestrian lane of the Al Zampa Memorial Bridge ( this is where I do most of my racewalking, mainly because its a full mile of uninterrupted roadway just for pedestrians and bicycles) , when a pair of “30-something” joggers [...]
What are the chances
I can’t believe it ! I found the inhaler I lost 2 days ago .(at least I thinks it mine) It was laying in the middle of the side walk, mid-span on the bridge. Looked good as new . But just in case someone decided to use it, I took the medication canister and discarded [...]
Map my walk
My routine 5 mile loop.It takes me over the world’s most technologically advanced bridge …The Al Zampa Bridge
Lungs …Don’t fail me now
Yesterday I walked my regular six mile loop , and except for that fact that I lost my inhaler somewhere along the way (which made me extremely uneasy the remainder of the walk ), it pretty much mirrored Wednesdays walk—Short of breath the entire way. My lungs are still far from back to normal ( [...]
From the Intensive Care Unit to 5 miles in under a week
Not bad huh? On the other hand , they weren’t exactly quality miles. My legs and feet felt fine, but my darn lungs really held me back. Its called the “AeroEclipse” ( from the same company that manufactures the “Aerochamber”) and its a breath actuated nebulizer. It uses [...]

48 hours out of the joint and the prednisone withdrawal process is in full swing.Instead of starting my day at 6:30 am , it now starts at 3:30 am. This sleepless pattern usually lasts a week or two depending on the steroid dosage at the time of discharge from the hospital. This is the part [...]
Just another week in the life of a hardcore asthmatic
I usually don’t post about my hospital experiences because its not a subject I like to re-live. Its an unwanted , terrifying , but necessary, part of my life. When it happens , I just try to get through it and then I try to blank it out . Its the only way I know [...]

The out pouring of affection and support from my friends has been overwhelming. My body is totally wiped out from all the [...]
In the Hospital
Early this morning, Steve was admitted to the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco for a severe asthma exacerbation. He is in serious but stable condition. He wanted me to tell his friends and visitors that he will be back out there racewalking again before you know it.
