Battle of the bulge

Seeing is believing…After watching myself on video , it has become all too apparent that I really need to loose the gut…..at least some of it.
I’ve taken off ( and kept off ) almost 20 pounds , just from the calories I burned from walking, but I still have a spare tire, and for some reason , it really bulges out when I racewalk.

I remember Dave Mc Govern saying once , that while racewalking does wonders for your leg muscles, it does nothing for the upper body. I guess that’s why cross training is so important. Until now, I didn’t realize that strong abs are crucial if you want to become an efficient racewalker.

Well, I don’t plan on running down to the local gym anytime soon , but if you know me at all, you know that once I set my mind on something, it’s a done deal !
I’m committed to getting rid of the belly fat and strenthening those flabby ab muscles , but I’ll do it on my own, and at my own pace.
Currently I’m doing 3 different types of sit-ups , consisting of 50 old fashioned crunches , 30 bicycle maneuver crunches and 40 crunches on the exercise ball. I hope to double that number by the end of summer. Hey, I’m 52 years old, I’m not expecting 6 pack abs. I’ll be happy if I can just tone up a bit.

As with cross training, dieting has never been on my top 10 list of favorite things to do, but I guess they’re both a must . After all, it doesn’t make much sense killing yourself to have tight abs if you’re gonna have 10 pounds of fat laying on top of them.
It’s not that I eat like a pig , but I consume way too much sugar. I would say at least 70% of my caloric intake is from sugar. I’m working on reducing that amount, but one challenge at a time please. Ultimately , I’d like to get down to my ideal body weight of 138lbs . I need to loose about eight pounds to do that.

It's very calm over here, why not leave a comment?
