Just wanted to say thank you for sharing your experiences , I’m just starting to have more serious asthma problems. Just had my first hospital stay and your recovering experiences made me feel so much better. Wasn’t sure if it was just me on prednisone , they gave me 300 mg in 36 hours in hospital ,then had me go to 40 taper. Thankfully I have learned already about the terrible side of a big drop so I didn’t think I was dieing like I have before . It’s just horrible that they don’t worn anyone of how the recovery goes . You nailed it ! It would have been nice to have an idea ahead of time , so I wouldn’t have worried that I wasn’t getting better . Glad I found you , hope you doing well !

Most frequently asked question

"Can you have an asthma attack with a normal sat reading"?
The answer is..YES!
While it's a little unusual to see a person with a perfect O2 sat of a 100% during a severe exacerbation, its pretty typical to see sats in the 94-97% range. The reason for this, is that asthma is a disease of the airways , not the alveoli where gas exchange takes place. Most asthmatics dont desaturate during the early stages of an attack, unless theres a secondary problem such as pneumonia. You have to be extremely ill with asthma if your sats are low.
