I think a break is in order.

Yesterday, I took my first walk since the race on Sunday. A total of 1.5 miles to and from the local grocery store . It was awful! Wasn’t so much the aches and pains as it was my lungs and my overall energy level. By the time I reached the half way point, I was huffing ‘n puffing and struggling to breath.

It amazes me how much my lung function has deteriorated in 4 days. Just a few days ago, I cruised across the finish line of a 13 mile course, now I feel old and sick. I guess some of that could be due to “post race depression” and part of it , just plain old fatigue. Sometimes I forget just how hard I’ve pushed myself . When you consider that I’ve walked an average of 40 miles a week and have been hospitalized, in critical condition, twice in the past 4 months, I suppose its no big surprise that Im a little burned out.
