Yup, I’m a severe asthmatic and my stress reliever is a cat! How weird is that.

I should do a survey to see how many severe asthmatics have cats!

Hehe I sneak previewed it! 🙂
    I want a Winston! 😀

    1. Have you been allergy tested for cats?

        Nope–not yet.
Allergy tests are still in the works. I have to remember to call my doc's office about the allergist! I got my respirology appt booked the day of my appointment, but have seen my GP once since then and when we got on the topic of me forgetting to call about my allergist appt because i was working, my doc got all interested in my job and distracted me! Have to remember to call on Monday!

However, my mom just doesn't like cats due to some bad experiences in childhood, so, I'd have to wait till I move out! (However, my very probably future roommate is a cat lover! I don't seem to have any problems when I'm at her house, though.)

I am the same, severe brittle asthmatic and I have two cats, they are the children I can't have and I loves them sooo sooo much!

Winston is adorable! I am a severe persistent asthmatic with a kitty named Sunshine…but fortunately I test NON-allergic to cats and most other stuff. Irritants and infections, however, are another matter. As long as Sunshine doesn't take up smoking cigarettes or wearing perfume, she won't worsen my breathing!

  4. Hi Gayle, Thanks . I always forget that you have asthma too. Hopefully your asthma is OK right now?
What kind of kitty do yo have?

Hi Stephen: Yeah, my asthma acts in many way more like a chronic bronchitis…I've had probably 30 to 40 bacterial bronchitis infections since 1990…but I never smoked! This year has been pretty good for my lungs, was in hospital in Jan. and had one flare-up about 6 weeks ago, but pretty stable otherwise, though at my baseline I can't walk faster than 1 to 2 miles per hour, or my lungs clench up. So I walk daily, but at a strolling pace. My peak flows run about 200 to 220 when I'm stable (5 ft tall). Of course, now we're getting into the Southern CA fire season, which consistently screws up my lungs. Sunshine is a "brown" tabby with intense green eyes and a sweet personality. You can see a video of her at my youtube site, called "Tabby VS Fuzzy Robot Dog". http://www.youtube.com/lungsofdoom (I also sing when I'm stable and there's a bunch of videos of me performing there, as well).
      Keep on keeping on!

I am an asthmatic too, apparently I got it because of my cats. I had them for eight years with no problems at all, when suddenly I developed asthma. I was then tested and they said I am allergic to cats. But when you’ve had them for 8 years, you don’t give them up so easily. So I kept them. I had four, two already died when they were about 14, now I still have two left who are 16 and 15, one of which also has asthma! Go figure!
