That was my New Years resolution for 2005, then 2006..

How is it that I can torture myself walking 30 miles a week, but I can’t find the will-power or the patience to do a few sit-ups now and then? I’m actually starting to feel guilty about this. Everyone knows that you’re supposed to give your legs a rest and work on some other part of the body.

I really need to work on my upper body strength and get rid of some of this flab. Do you know what it’s like to carry a big ponch around when you’re trying to racewalk? or I should say…Have you ever seen a racewalker with a big gut? Not very often, I assure you. Most of them are as lean as skeletons.

Its not that I have a huge gut, but I could definitely stand to firm up a bit. I”m 5’5″ and currently weigh 146 lbs. My ideal body weight should probably be in the high 130’s. so, I could stand to loose another 5 lbs as well.

Swimming and Biking are both out of the question for me. I get winded too fast to benefit from either one. Weight training is just not my thing. I’d love to join a gym, but I just cant afford it. A personal trainer would be awesome!

See….. I have so many excuses, but at least I know I have to do something. I’m to the point in my walking program that I want to take it to the next level. Maybe I’ll look into Yoga or some other low impact activity.

Stay tuned!
