…..for rain in San Francisco that is.
As for me… I’ve had worse , but for now it looks like I’m pretty much back to “normal” ( or as normal as I can get) . March has been a long and difficult month for me, but somehow I still managed to put in more miles than I did in February… That’s weird .
I think I finally figured out why I had such a crappy month. It would be very easy to blame it all on my asthma, but it was probably a combination of things
First off, I experienced an asthma flare-up which knocked me for a loop for a few days at the beginning of the month. It was severe enough that I had to do a 5 day course of prednisone
Secondly , it has rained 26 out 31 days in March,( with no end insight) which means the humidity was, and still is, quite high. Humid weather conditions ALWAYS exacerbate my breathing problems.
Thirdly, (and this is a biggie) , for the first time in my walking career, I’m now working more of the upper body muscles , this dramatically increases the work of breathing. I was getting so short of breath early on in my walks, that I had a hard time finishing them.
Lastly, and I hate to admit it, but I am getting older and my lung function , though very slowly, is getting worse.
So, with all that said, I hope to start April with at least a semi-clean slate
And, as much as I want to racewalk , for the sake of my lungs, I’m gonna have to tone it down. Otherwise, Ill be too short of breath to complete any significant mileage walks, which kind of defeats the whole purpose.
